Biography and Clinical interests
Dr Jennifer Thoreau is a general cardiologist with subspecialty training in adult congenital heart disease and an interest in cardiac imaging.
Raised in Townsville, Dr Thoreau obtained her medical degree from James Cook University and went on to complete her medical and cardiology training at The Prince Alexandra Hospital, Brisbane and Cairns Base Hospital.
After finishing cardiology training, Dr Thoreau pursued subspecialty training in adult congenital heart disease at The Royal Brompton Hospital in London, renowned for its expertise in cardiac care. Gaining valuable experience and knowledge in managing congenital heart conditions during her time there, Dr Thoreau went on to complete a further year of fellowship at the Prince Charles Hospital in Brisbane.
Dedicated to bringing specialised care to adults who were born with congenital heart disease in the North Queensland region, Dr Thoreau’s focus is on ensuring these patients receive the necessary expertise and attention locally, without needing to travel long distances.
